This is the old original. This is never an imitation.
MATERIAL : Pottery of Mashiko-yaki.
MASHIKO-yaki is a pottery around Tochigi Prefecture Mashiko area. Because the clay of that area was softer, it was unsuitable for the elaborate work. So the potter Shoji Hamada made a folk crafts taking advantage of the nature of the clay. Then, Mashiko became famous in the whole country.

MAKER : The name of potter is Shoji Hamada.
He is very very famous great potter in Japan. He was a living national treasure. This is the original which he made. I guarantee it. Incidentally, this is work when he is young. It understands it with the signature and seal of the box. And a bottom has a logo of Rotary International. It is often seen in young SHOJI's work.
Shoji Hamada (1894-1978).
He was a potter that has the pottery kiln in Mashiko in Tochigi Prefecture. His preeminent work has won many awards. And he became a living national treasure in 1955. He is the founder that took in the folk craft style in Japanese pottery. He is a greatest potters representing Japan.
ABOUT WORK
This is made well and is the very good style of the work. All including the work, glaze tone and bottom clay are typical SHOJI's work. It is never imitation. This is the serious and highest-class plate that the greatest potter made.
