PROPERTIES:
TABERNIL SULFA
combines two active principles with synergic effects: sulfaquinoxaline, which is an antagonist of paraaminobenzoic acid, eliminating the synthesis of the tetrahydrofolic acid, essential for coccidia, and pyrimethanime, derivate of pirimidine, folic acid antagonist, which acts as an inhibitor of dihydrofolate reductase.
The presence of coccidia due to Isospora serini, Isospora canaria, Isospora lacazei and Isospora communis passarum has been described in canaries and other passerines. And due to
Eimeria dunsingi
and
Isospora spp
has been related to psittaci.
INDICATIONS:
Treatment of coccidiosis caused by protozoa of the genera Eimeria and Isospora.
TARGET SPECIES:
Ornamental birds (canaries, goldfinches, parakeets, etc.). Do not administrate to doves.
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE:
Add
TABERNIL® SULFA
in drinking water at the dose of 1.5 ml/litre, equivalent to 3 drops per 100 ml of water, during three consecutive days, two days rest (untreated water) followed by a further three days treatment.
Prepare treated water daily.
INTERACTIONS AND INCOMPATIBILITIES:
Do not administrate with medicines that contain PABA or its derivates, due to problems of antagonism.
OBSERVATIONS:
At the indicated dose, no contraindications or secondary effects have been reported.
